Plain and simple, I LOVE WHAT I DO!
And I’ve been doing it for over 20 years.
What does that mean for you? That means that I SHOW UP! Every day, to every practice, prepared and with energy and enthusiasm to be your COACH.
The person that shows up for you to help you realize your full potential. As a coach I know how important my job is and as such I don’t treat it as a job. Being a Coach is a profession to me, a chosen journey that I walk daily.
I view having a coach like having a personal advocate in your corner. Someone who cares about your success as much as you do, who is willing to help you explore your personal barriers and help you see your way through them.
“Without health life is not life, it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death” – Buddha
That might seem harsh but it is a truth that I understand from experience. Our health is our most important asset. And because I have not always had my health I understand its value. Because of this perspective I will always consider your health first, and with me in your corner this aspect of your fitness journey will not be overlooked.
Anyone who knows me will tell you that I was not always a great student (except in science) and wasn’t always coachable. The reason -I am not sure I want to admit this on the internet- Ok here it goes… I already KNEW everything.
I learned that thinking “I KNOW THAT” blocked my ability to learn new things and slowed down my progress big time. I came to the realization that KNOWING is not the same as DOING. To know something is useless without action. That’s why having someone to be accountable to who understands how to move you into action is often the fastest way to get results.
“If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you. – Unknown
There is a Chinese proverb that says: Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself. This requires us to dig deep and to become vulnerable and dedicated to the process and not the destination. The ability to see that the process is not one big giant step, but a series of small steps. And that the competition is not against another but against oneself. Then the transition from knowing to doing becomes very simple: show up today and become a little better than you were yesterday.
I dig deep every day and I enjoy every minute of it. I love to learn and to grow and take risks and to explore things that are not known to me. I am a FOODIE. I love to eat. I enjoy searching out new tastes and preparing foods as much as I enjoy sitting down and sharing that experience with people that I care about.
I ride bikes, if it has two wheels and some pedals I love it. I even have one to ride on the snow, this makes winter even more appealing. Playing games, sitting down alone or with help to a puzzle, hiking, caving, scuba diving, weekending (I don’t know what that means but I thought it sounded cool and unusual).
I am always up for an adventure and I LOVE my family. I grew up in a family that was accepting of all and therefore I am the same way. We take people in as if they are one of us right from the start. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
That’s a little bit about my journey-
