In this ever growing climate of uncertainty and information overload, it’s important to have a place where you can be yourself
But how many of us would say that place is the gym?
Probably very few….
It’s estimated that 80% of Americans don’t have a gym or health club membership- and of those 20% that do… how many of them actually go?
A crazy statistic but I’m pretty sure I know why
I was having an interesting conversation with a student the other day and she was saying that she didn’t feel like she found “her people” yet
She was referring to her job setting
But she brought to mind what a lot of our students say at when they first join the OF family. I’ve heard so many stories of people being made to feel uncomfortable at the gym.
– Being pushed too hard by trainers to keep going until they threw up,
– Doing exercises that were far above their ability and comfort level
– People being made to run on treadmills that hadn’t run in 10 years leading to sore knees…
– And others who felt judged for not wearing trendy gym clothes
(and the biggest one)
– Feeling like they had to be in shape already to go workout
What’s the result?
None of them felt connected to their gym as a positive community.
None of them felt empowered and motivated to keep working towards their goals, and NONE of them went back.
Years went by of paying gym memberships and not going. Or trying to do their own thing on the elliptical or treadmill only to stop after a few days or months because of the mind numbering boredom or not knowing what to do to get results safely.
And you know what?
That’s a terrible thing. The fact that the fitness industry does more to dissuade people from working out than it does to educate and empower them is a serious problem, and one that leaves a lot of people turning to quick fix dieting in order to lose weight.
But there are other amazing health benefits of working out with other people that are lost too.
A study from the Journal of the American Osteopath from 2017 showed that participants in a group exercise regiment for 12 weeks showed a 26% reduction in stress and improved mental, physical and emotional quality of life.
This was more than if they’d worked out alone, or did no exercise as part of the control group.
Who wouldn’t want a 26% reduction in their stress! It’s important to know that it’s not just your workout you’re missing out on if you don’t exercise.
The key is to find a place where you belong, instead of trying to change to fit in!
Being seen and heard for your individual obstacles when it comes to your health and fitness is the first piece of the puzzle
And that’s a HUGE reason why we created Organic Fitness.
– To create a place where you can get the highest level of training and nutrition coaching
But maybe even more importantly where you:
– Feel like you’re individual goals, obstacles, and abilities are taken into account
– Feel empowered to make changes you weren’t able to in the past
– Feel excited to train because you know everything is set at your personal fitness level
– Feel like the coaches and the community are supporting you to… well, show up and be yourself!
It’s that what it feels like to be around “your people”
Isn’t that the comfort of old friends who know you, where you can feel comfortable just existing?
That’s how you feel when you step through our doors.
That’s why we’re not a “gym” we’re a lifestyle transformation studio
And that’s why we don’t call ourselves “trainers” we’re coaches- because good coaches empower you to show up and work to be a little better everyday
Come as you are and leave a little better.
If that sounds like something you can do, just show up willing to learn and get coached.. then I would have you consider applying for our 2 Week Trial (see link below)
