I’m sitting here at my desk reflecting on the conversations I’ve had in the past few days
It’s been an amazing weekend
One of our students Holly just had a one of a kind art experience at her gallery in Glenbrook
I know she worked super hard, stayed focused, and put a lot of thought and planning into it
As a result she blew everyone away, sold 100 (yes I said 100) paintings, was featured in the Stamford Advocate twice and had a spot on NPR
Pretty amazing what a little determination and focus will bring
I keep thinking about how proud I am of her and what she’s creating for herself and our community
And it made me reflect on why some people are successful and why some aren’t
With anything, not just work or business ventures
And the obvious things I keep thinking about are fat loss and muscle building
Why are some people able to get on a training schedule, make small changes, and continue to see results- for YEARS
And others who have the same opportunity- don’t see the results they want- ever
I think it all boils down to one major theme
What is the focus every single day? Where are you putting your time and energy?
Not to make it seem humdrum or tiresome.. except sometimes it is
Life isn’t all magic ponies and winning
And if you look at the news on any given day you know that’s true
But it IS about small decisions and dealing with the day-to-day routines and habits that literally make up our lives
When people can sustain their focus on the long-term outcome- and plan their daily habits like steps towards that outcome
When people want that long-term outcome every day or are upset they didn’t get it in 2 weeks, then they lose focus and don’t get what they say they want
But it’s not about the desire, it’s about the planning!
Knowing that focus is a key factor in the success of our students
We just made a big investment in a tool that will give you some serious FOCUS
It’s called an InBody
And it looks like a Star wars sidekick!
So what does it do?
It allow us to do is assess your body fat, water weight, and muscle mass for your entire body
Over time you’ll see the body fat percentage/lbs go down while the lean muscle mass goes up! (That’s if you’re making your workouts and practicing eating according to the PN guidelines)
Even if the scale stays the same, you’ll see all the areas where you’re getting results
This is big in terms of focus
Why? Because the body weight scale is the biggest killer of momentum ever..
And in terms of overall health it’s pretty irrelevant
Why because it doesn’t tell the whole story
Example: 2 different men get on the scale.
Both have the same body weight but one is Mr. Olympian 2017 and the other is someone considered morbidly obese with severe health problems that can barely walk up the stairs
But both weight the same.
The InBody assessments are remarkable in what information you will have access to about your own body. It even segments your body and shows you the muscle vs. fat ratio for each arm, leg, and your midsection.
So over time you can actually see where you’re losing body fat from and where your numbers should be for optimal health considering your age, gender and height.
It’s the next level in assessment tools
And we know that what you measure you manage
Need a little kick in the pants?
Wait till you see this!
(ps. Not to mention it’s fun)
