What really happens when you go on a diet?
The moment you go on a diet, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll lose weight. But what’s really happening? Why are those pounds dropping? What’s really happening is you’re losing muscle. Muscles are the most metabolically active tissues in your body. They use up an enormous amount of energy and calories. When you start dieting the body stops receiving the calories it needs and starts getting rid of the muscle.
Isn’t that crazy?
You never intended to get rid of the muscle, and just wanted to get rid of excess fat. And yet it’s the muscle that goes and there’s even more bad news. The moment you lose muscle, your body fat percentage goes up. Then at some point, you may go off the diet and it’s natural to start gaining weight once again—but this time even faster than ever before. Why? Because you don’t have muscle to help burn it.
In short, all that self-control, all that dieting doesn’t help keep your weight off. What you need is a method to keep fit, without losing muscle, while burning fat all the time. And this is where our second problem arises.

But won’t muscle make me look big and bulky?
It’s a sad misconception that lifting weights will make you big and bulky. In reality it’s the exact opposite. Strength training helps build lean muscle, burn body fat and give you a sexy, toned look. Big, burly men and women with huge muscles have to workout constantly. They dedicate hours a day to look like that. You don’t get a physique like that unless you focus your entire on life building muscle.
Plus it’s even harder for women to look big and bulky
Women in general find it hard to get all muscular because it’s hard for us women to keep muscle on our bodies. This is because we have less muscle mass to begin with. Just to keep toned and fit, we have to work pretty consistently and keep ourselves focused.
